Anything worth talking about, is worth blogging about

Remembering Montreal

As Cara at Feministe has already mentioned, today is the ninteenth anniversary of the Montreal Massacre. We should remember the victims, all fourteen. But we should do more.We should change attitudes that promote misogyny.

We should change a society that encourages women to see themselves as passive or submissive.

We should change a culture that promotes foregiveness for abuse rather than means to end it.

We should stand up for women.

We should seek to end misogyny.

We should change beliefs of people who think feminism is finished and that disadvantages and discrimination against women do not exist.

Violence against women and domestic abuse still exists in Canada and throughout the world. That is unacceptable. The only acceptable situation is one where those things do not exist.

We should always remember that any act of violence against women an act too many.
